Submissions

Afronaut Press publishes African writers at every stage of their career — from debut manuscripts to established voices seeking wider reach. We don’t need your cultural context explained to us. We start there.

Our editors understand the cultural landscape your work comes from — not as background information, but as the ground they stand on too.

We don’t charge submission fees. Our terms are transparent, our fees are set with local markets in mind, and if your work reaches international audiences, your earnings grow with it.

The Plan

  1. Submit your manuscript or proposal — tell us what you’re writing, who it’s for, and where you are in the process. We accept work at any stage.
  2. Work with editors who read with you, not against you — our editorial process is collaborative. Your voice doesn’t get softened here.
  3. Reach readers who’ve been waiting for your work — in print, digital, and through our institutional partnerships across the continent and beyond.

What We Publish

We publish fiction, non-fiction and children’s books rooted in African cultures. We’re not looking for a particular kind of African story — we’re looking for writing that is honest, crafted and made to last. If that’s what you’re working on, we want to hear from you.

This might be the right home for you.
